Martina Bažon

Martina Bažon is an assistant at the Department of Psychology at the The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, and a doctoral student at the Postgraduate doctoral program in psychology at the mentioned institution. She’s involved in conducting courses in the field of educational and school psychology. Areas of scientific interest include the use of digital technologies in education and research considering the nature of the relationship between self-regulation and cognitive load in teaching and learning, primarily through the analysis of regulatory processes (with emphasis on the moderating effect of motivational and metacognitive factors in learning efficacy).

Currently, as an associate, she is involved in two projects: Personal and contextual determinants of learning and teaching at different educational levels (UNIRI project; leader: Prof. Svjetlana Kolić-Vehovec, PhD, Department od Psychology FFRI) and e-Schools: Development of the System of Digitally Mature Schools (II. phase) (funded by Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET). Within the mentioned projects, she’s focused on the research of personal and situational determinants of successful learning and teaching at different educational levels and in different learning environments (e.g., face-to-face teaching, distance learning). Also, she participates in conducting studies that examine the ways in which teaching and learning strategies and interventions (such as the use of metacognitive prompts and/or digital technologies) affect the quality of learning.
